The Last Passenger Train
Today, 17 March, sees the 35th anniversary of the running of the last passenger train to Consett. Hauled by Class 46, 46026, the train ran from Newcastle Central Station to Consett and back. Washington End Bridge (Model)
Finally got round to adding the capping stones to the piers and also the cable support brackets that were fitted to the centre and right hand piers. The cables they supported were, as I understand it, for the colour light signal that controlled the approach to the junction from the East Coast Mainline.
