42 years ago today on 12th September 1980, Consett Steelworks closed. From Paul, a regular contributor to the site, here are a number of press cuttings reporting on the closure.

Paul Matthews who has contributed a number of photos to the site has gone back to Consett, replicated a number of the photos taken by him and his father and superimposed over them over the originals, an excellent video here:
