Below is a copy of the June to September 1954 passenger timetable for trains from Newcastle to Consett.
The timetable makes mention of services to Beamish having been withdrawn which dates the timetable to 1954 as passenger services to Beamish ended in September 1953 and from the line as a whole on 23 May 1955.
By this time, the Northern General bus company ran more buses per hour between Consett and Newcastle than there were trains all day so it is little wonder that the passenger service on the line was on it’s last legs.
