Before today’s update I’d just like to thank, once again, all those people who have allowed me to use their photos on the site over the years, it really wouldn’t be the same without them. This week in particular has seen almost 100 new photos come my way which will be uploaded to the site over the next few weeks and months.
So, my thanks to a new contributor to the site, Norman Hugill, for the following five photos which show the same iron ore train at South Pelaw, Pelton and the iron ore unloading gantry at Consett Steelworks.
Always wanted to see a pic of a 9f going over Pelton Bridge. Superb.
I used to be a fireman at Tyne Dock Shed in the late50s and 60 s
Fired and drove 9Fs to Consett with Ion ore for years.
Once a professional chap came on the footplate an filmed all the way from Tyne Dock to Consett something to do with advertising think it was industry
and the film was on the TV but I never seen it it but my mats who I worked with saw it .
I’ve been searching for years now to find it but never did.
I’m 80 now so properly never will.
Kind Regards
Brian
