For the Class 24s that ran on the line, I’m using the superb model from SLW.
Starting out with their model of D5107 which, being one of the locomotives assigned to Tyne Dock for the Consett Iron Ore trains, means that no repainting or renumbering of this particular locomotive is required. Out of the box, the loco isn’t to Tyne Dock spec but SLW provide the correct underframe tanks and air pipes to be added so the first job was to do this. The 52A shed plates have also been added to the nose and the headcode disks changed to the correct arrangement for the iron ore trains.
Next up, I’ve made a start on the weathering with my usual method of pastel chalks applied with a brush. The Tyne Dock 24s could get filthy in service so it is going to be difficult to know where to stop.
